The 1891 volume Thy Kingdom Come taught that God had prepared the Great Pyramid of Giza as an instrument 'for convincing the world of his wisdom, foreknowledge and grace', described the testimony of the building as inspired, saying it would be 'as much disputed as that of the Scriptures', and closed the chapter by answering those who 'scoff at the testimony of this stone “Witness,” as they also scoff at God’s written Word'.

The sentence states that God himself prepared the building. The surrounding paragraphs say its witness is ‘chiefly intended for the world of mankind during the Millennial age’ and treat it as corroborative evidence additional to the written Scriptures.

“We thus introduce this “Witness” because the inspiration of its testimony will doubtless be as much disputed as that of the Scriptures, by the prince of darkness, the god of this world, and those whom he blinds to the truth.”

The preceding sentence says the structure is ‘repeatedly referred to in the Scriptures’ and that its testimony will ‘honor Jehovah, and fully correspond with his written Word’. The building's testimony is described as inspired, and disputing it is attributed to the devil.

Notes. This bears directly on the 1928 reversal, which reached the opposite conclusion: that reliance on the pyramid was itself a device of Satan.

The chapter argues that the design shows knowledge the Egyptians could not have had, and reports the resulting conjecture that Melchizedek was the builder, while adding ‘Of this we can know little’.

“Some may scoff at the testimony of this stone “Witness,” as they also scoff at God's written Word, but to their scoffs we answer: Account for this peculiar fitness of things, or else venture to prophesy of the future … Prove to us that it requires no inspiration to foretell future events.”

The closing argument of the chapter places the building's testimony alongside the Bible's and treats rejection of the one as of a piece with rejection of the other.
