The Watchtower, “Where to Turn for Counsel”

15 January 1963 · pp.37-39 · Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania

“Just how scientific psychoanalysis really is no one is certain. At best it leaves much to be desired. Its aim to help people achieve a normal capacity for living is not wrong, but some of its methods are.”

An article surveying sources of advice — newspaper columns, marriage counsellors, psychoanalysis — and directing readers instead to the Bible and to the congregation. It names Wellhausen's school of higher critics, Darwin, Freud and Marx together as having 'played a sinister role in destroying the guiding influence of the Bible for many'.
