The Golden Age, “(article not identified)”

4 February 1931 · p.293 · Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society (Golden Age Publishing)

The Golden Age of 4 February 1931 is widely reported to have described vaccination as a violation of the covenant God made with Noah. No copy of this issue has been opened, so the sentence is recorded here as reported rather than quoted, and the site does not reproduce it as the magazine’s words.

Provenance and verification note for The Golden Age, (article not identified)

Confidence note. NOT opened. The archive.org collection "1930-1934TheGoldenAgeMagazine" does not contain the 4 February 1931 issue. The wording in circulation appears on several campaigning and reference websites which may not be independent of one another, so it is not reproduced here as a quotation. A scan of the issue would settle it.

Notes. The 1952 Questions From Readers answer discusses the Noachian covenant argument explicitly, which is consistent with such an article having been published, but does not establish its wording.

The Watchtower, “Questions From Readers (Is vaccination a violation of God's law forbidding the taking of blood into the system?)”

15 December 1952 · p.764 · Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society

“The matter of vaccination is one for the individual that has to face it to decide for himself. … it does not appear to us to be in violation of the everlasting covenant made with Noah, as set down in Genesis 9:4, nor contrary to God's related commandment at Leviticus 17:10-14. Most certainly it cannot reasonably or Scripturally be argued and proved that, by being vaccinated, the inoculated person is either eating or drinking blood”

The answer reverses the earlier published objection, adding that the Society 'cannot afford to be drawn into the affair legally or take the responsibility'.
